Are Naturopathic Doctors regulated in BC?

Yes, Naturopathic Doctors (NDs) in BC are regulated much the same way as Medical Doctors (MDs). ND's are governed by the College of Naturopathic Physicians of BC (CNPBC). The mission of the CNPBC is to provide safe and ethical standards of professional practice amongst naturopathic physicians in BC.

Dr. Tomah is a graduate of an accredited naturopathic college and is a licensed member in good standing of the CNPBC.

Are visits to a Naturopathic Doctor covered by health insurance?

Naturopathic doctors are not covered by MSP in BC. However, most extended health plans cover visits for naturopathic medicine. Please check with you health insurance provider.

When would someone go to a Naturopathic Doctor?

There are many reasons someone might visit a ND. They may be suffering from a chronic health condition, or simply looking for natural approaches to boost health and vitality.

The best way to know if you would benefit from a ND is to book a free 15 minute meet & greet to discuss whether Naturopathic Medicine would be helpful for you.

Do I need a referral to make an appointment?

No, you do not require a referral.

If I already see my Medical Doctor, can I also see a Naturopathic Doctor?

Yes, you certainly can! Although our approach to treatment may vary, both your MD and I have the same goal in mind: helping you feel better.

We can work together with your medical doctor (or other health care practitioners) to provide the best care possible.

Will I be told to stop eating all of my favourite foods??

While Dr. Tomah recognizes that diet and digestion are the foundations of health, he also believes in enjoyment of life and achieving balance! It is sometimes necessary to restrict certain foods for a period of time to restore health, however we can work together to make realistic goals.
